Deregistering the vehicle
Once the auction has closed and the buyer has completed payment to Route 66 Auctions (you will receive a confirmation from us), you as the seller are required to deregister the vehicle with the competent authority in your country. Procedures vary by country, but in nearly all European countries the licence plates must be returned to the responsible motor-vehicle authority.

Proof of sale
You must provide the buyer with proof of sale so they can register the vehicle with their local authorities.
Professional sellers do this by issuing an invoice.
Private buyers and sellers will use the sales agreement prepared by Route 66 Auctions. Both parties receive this agreement by email.

Sales contract
The sales contract confirms the transfer of ownership and is required for the buyer to register the vehicle in their country. The document must include at least:

• Seller’s name and contact details
• Buyer’s name and contact details
• Vehicle description (make, model, chassis number)
• Sales price (the highest bid from the auction, excluding commission)
• Date of transfer

Arranging a viewing
We strongly recommend that buyers view a vehicle before placing a bid.
A buyer may request a viewing if:

• They have an active Route 66 Auctions account
• Their account is fully verified
• At least 48 hours remain in the auction
• The buyer pays 50% of the commission in advance to Route 66 Auctions to reserve the vehicle for viewing

This 50% is calculated based on the Buy Now price. The amount is deducted from the total commission if the vehicle is purchased.

If the buyer decides not to purchase the vehicle, they may request a refund of this advance commission payment.

Once all conditions are met, Route 66 Auctions will provide the buyer with your contact details so that a viewing appointment can be arranged.
