The seller offers for sale this 1954 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, an early oval-window example known for its distinctive design and historical significance. This car is powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a manual transmission. According to the seller, the car was delivered on July 16, 1954 to Skandinavisk Motor Co. in Copenhagen, Denmark. The current owner purchased the car in Portugal in 2018, after which several restoration works were carried out. These included installation of a new alpaca soft top with new wooden frame, a correct oval rear window, new headliner, restoration of the engine with bearing replacement and valve work, new tyres, paint refinishing in a period-correct L62 Ivory shade and refurbishment of the leather interior. Additional work included attention to the heating system, clock and radio. The engine is from November 1954 and is believed to be matching. The paintwork presents well and the interior shows a natural patina. The engine runs well and the gearbox shifts smoothly according to the seller.

The soft top is present and described as being in excellent condition. The fabric and stitching show no signs of wear, discoloration or leakage. The mechanism operates smoothly and silently, with all components functioning correctly and without resistance.

The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most iconic cars ever produced, and early oval-window models such as this 1954 example are particularly sought after by collectors. Introduced in the pre-war era and refined in the post-war years, the Beetle became known for its reliability, simplicity and distinctive rounded design. The Cabriolet versions added an open-top driving experience while maintaining the robust mechanical foundation of the standard Beetle. Today these early convertible models are appreciated for their charm, historical importance and timeless appeal among classic car enthusiasts.
