Description

MG MGB Cabriolet | 1972

Highlights:

– 1.8-Liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine with manual transmission
– Extensively restored example with photo documentation of the rebuild
– Major maintenance required due to 12 years of inactivity
– Low documented mileage of only 80.300 miles
– Soft top in good condition

The seller offers for sale this 1972 MG B Roadster, powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with manual transmission with desirable overdrive. The car was purchased in England by the seller’s father in 1996 and subsequently underwent an extensive restoration. The vehicle was completely disassembled and rebuilt over a period of approximately six years, with invoices for parts and photo documentation of the restoration process available. The car was first approved for road use again in 2002. After the passing of the owner in 2007 the vehicle saw little use, and since 2013 it has been stored indoors in dry storage.

Because the car has not been driven for 12 years major maintenance required before returning it to the road. The seller indicates that the car functioned well before it was placed in storage. The paintwork was refinished during the restoration and presents well, while the interior with leather upholstery remains in well-preserved condition. The current documented mileage is 80.300 miles. A valid technical inspection is missing ofcourse.

The car is equipped with a soft top that is present and described as being in good condition. The fabric shows light signs of use but remains watertight. The soft top mechanism functions properly, although a small amount of resistance or noise may occur during operation and light lubrication could improve its operation.

The MG B is one of the most recognizable British sports cars ever produced and played a major role in popularizing affordable roadsters around the world. Introduced in 1962, the model combined simple engineering with attractive styling and enjoyable driving characteristics. Its lightweight construction, responsive four-cylinder engine and engaging manual gearbox made it a favourite among enthusiasts seeking classic open-top motoring. The MG B also became well known for its reliability and relatively straightforward maintenance compared to many other sports cars of its era. With its timeless proportions, chrome details and low-slung roadster profile, the model continues to attract classic car enthusiasts today. Many examples have been carefully restored or preserved, making the MG B a popular entry point into classic British sports car ownership and a favourite for relaxed touring or weekend drives.
