The seller offers for sale this 1989 Volkswagen T3 16-inch DOKA, a rare 4×4 pick-up powered by a 1.9 litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine with manual gearbox. Originally one of only 2,138 factory-built 16-inch Syncro models, this example is fitted with double differential locks and was converted several years ago to a 1.9 TDI engine. The vehicle was professionally repainted following body restoration, including the underside. It comes with a camper unit mounted to the load bed and includes unused original side panels for the pickup. The engine runs well and the gearbox shifts smoothly. All gauges and electronics function properly. The current documented mileage is 105.000 km.
The Volkswagen T3 Syncro has built a strong reputation among enthusiasts for its rugged engineering and versatile character. Developed as the successor to the iconic T2, the T3 introduced improved comfort and safety while retaining the practical layout that made Volkswagen transporters popular worldwide. The 16-inch Syncro versions were engineered for demanding terrain, featuring reinforced suspension, higher ground clearance and advanced four-wheel-drive technology developed in cooperation with Steyr-Daimler-Puch. The Double Cab configuration combines passenger space with a practical cargo bed, making it attractive for both work and leisure. Today, rare variants such as the 16-inch Syncro are sought after for their durability, distinctive appearance and strong community support, offering a unique blend of classic utility and adventurous spirit.
