The seller offers for sale a Mercedes-Benz 190 SL from 1960. This cabriolet is powered by a 1.9 liter four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a manual transmission. The car was imported from the United States in 2013 and subsequently disassembled and rebuilt in the seller’s workshop, with careful attention to originality and authenticity. The body was restored using original Mercedes-Benz parts where possible, followed by preparation and repainting in the original red color. Mechanical components such as the engine, gearbox, transaxle, brakes, and suspension were checked and repaired as required, including a major engine repair. The engine runs well and the gearbox shifts smoothly.
The fabric soft top is included with the car and is presented in a clean and good condition. The roof mechanism operates smoothly and quietly, allowing easy transition between open and closed driving. No hard top is included.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was introduced as a stylish and refined roadster designed to offer comfort and elegance rather than outright performance. Inspired by the iconic 300 SL, the 190 SL shared similar design cues while providing a more accessible driving experience. Known for its balanced handling, smooth engine characteristics, and elegant proportions, the model became popular among drivers seeking relaxed open-top motoring. Today, the 190 SL is appreciated for its classic lines, solid engineering, and enduring appeal as a collectible Mercedes-Benz from the post-war era.
