The seller offers for sale this 1969 MGB GT, equipped with a manual gearbox featuring overdrive and powered by an 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with twin SU carburettors. The car was imported from the USA in the past and has been in the seller’s possession since 2009. In 2010 the sills were renewed and the body was restored, followed later by a repaint in original Ferrari two-component paint, which still presents attractively. The body is straight and clean, with the floors reported as solid and only a small dent on the bonnet edge. The engine starts without hesitation, runs without smoke and produces no unusual noises. An electric cooling fan and electronic ignition are fitted. The gearbox with overdrive shifts without issues or noises, and the car shows no rust or accident history. Extensive mechanical care includes a renewed stainless steel exhaust, new propshaft in 2023, fresh brakes in 2023, a new alternator, refurbished suspension, recent clutch hydraulics and a full major service. The interior retains its original layout with tidy black skai upholstery, a Moto-Lita leather sports steering wheel, and all gauges working as intended. The car has always been stored indoors and comes with invoices dating back to 2008.
The MGB GT is a respected British sports coupe known for its practical hatchback layout, balanced handling and approachable character. Introduced in the mid-1960s, the GT offered the charm of classic MG motoring with the added usability of a closed cabin, making it a favourite among enthusiasts seeking both style and everyday drivability. The 1.8-litre engine is appreciated for its robust nature and smooth torque delivery, while the overdrive gearbox allows relaxed cruising at higher speeds. The design by Pininfarina gave the GT a distinctive fastback silhouette that remains popular today. As a classic, the MGB GT stands out for its accessible running costs, strong parts availability and lively driving feel, offering an enjoyable mix of sportiness and practicality for road trips, events or weekend pleasure drives.
