What Should I Do if My Debit or Credit Card Is Declined?

There are several possible reasons:

  • The card number entered is incorrect.
  • Insufficient funds or your credit limit has been reached. (For higher amounts, the card limit is often too low. Contact your bank or card issuer to request a temporary limit increase.)
  • The card type is not supported by Route 66 Auctions.
  • Your bank blocked the payment for security reasons.

Check these points first. If the issue persists, contact your bank or card issuer for more information or assistance.


What Happens If I Miss the Payment Deadline?

  • The Buyer Protection Fee must be paid within 48 hours.
  • The full purchase amount must be paid within 5 working days after the end of the auction (or immediately if using Buy Now).

If payment is not received on time, the vehicle may be offered to other bidders or the order may be cancelled.

In case of cancellation, the highest bidder owes:

  • 9% commission (excl. VAT) on the purchase amount
  • 15% cancellation fee on the purchase amount

You will always receive a payment reminder by email before cancellation.

Note: As long as the vehicle has not been reassigned, you can still complete payment. However, if another bidder pays before you after your deadline has passed, the vehicle goes to that bidder and the commission and cancellation fees remain payable by you.
