In most cases, vehicles sold through Route 66 Auctions are delivered with their original paperwork, such as the title, registration certificate, or export certificate. This information is always listed in the vehicle description.
However, some vehicles are sold without documents — for example, when they come from long-term storage, restoration, or a private collection. In such cases, the seller usually receives new export documents after the sale, once the vehicle has been deregistered by the local authorities. These papers confirm that the vehicle is no longer registered in the national database of its country of origin. You will need these documents to register the vehicle in your own country.
If a vehicle has no papers, registration is often still possible. In many countries, recognized automobile associations or inspection agencies can assist in obtaining replacement documents or new license plates. The exact procedure varies by country.
There are no uniform European regulations for vehicle registration. Therefore, we recommend checking in advance which requirements, documents, and procedures apply to the registration of imported vehicles in your own country.
