The seller offers for sale this 1970 Volvo P1800E, a stylish coupé equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and manual transmission. Originally delivered in the United States in green, the car was imported to the Netherlands in 1998 and resprayed in Volvo Red 46. Since then, it has enjoyed decades of careful ownership and detailed maintenance. Between 2001 and 2022, the previous Dutch and Belgian owners carried out extensive restoration work, including an overhaul of the body, wiring, dashboard, and interior. Inside, the leather upholstery and headliner are well preserved. Recent servicing included replacement of the fuel tank, fuel lines, and pump, as well as a new clutch, bearings, cables, tyres, and original “Cloverleaf” wheels. The car holds a valid Belgian technical inspection until 2028.
The Volvo P1800E is one of Sweden’s most recognisable classics, blending elegant Italian styling by Frua with solid Scandinavian engineering. Introduced as a grand tourer, it combined comfort, reliability, and sporty character. The 1970 “E” version added Bosch electronic fuel injection and four-wheel disc brakes, offering improved performance and drivability. Loved by enthusiasts and made famous by “The Saint” television series, the P1800E continues to attract collectors for its timeless design and robust mechanicals.
