The seller offers for sale a Peugeot 403 Cabriolet Grand Luxe from 1960, finished in its original ivory colour with a brown leather interior. This elegant cabriolet is one of only 2050 examples built and carries production number 1653. It was purchased in 2003 near Pithiviers, France, and has remained with its current owner for over two decades. The car underwent a restoration at that time, including paintwork, interior, and black alpaca soft top. It retains its original engine, gearbox, and differential, and includes authentic period details such as Robri chrome trims and a rare Peuginox grille. The car starts easily, runs smoothly without smoke or mechanical noise, and shifts properly through its manual gearbox. The brakes, suspension, and electrics are in working order, and the car has no visible rust or history of accidents.
The black alpaca convertible top was replaced during the restoration and remains in fine condition. It fits well and complements the ivory paint beautifully, making the car ideal for leisurely drives.
The Peugeot 403, designed by Pininfarina and produced between 1955 and 1966, marked a turning point for the French brand. It combined refined Italian styling with robust engineering and quickly became a symbol of understated elegance. The Cabriolet Grand Luxe was the most exclusive version, offering open-air motoring with refined comfort and quality. Favoured by collectors today for its timeless design and rarity, the 403 Cabriolet delivers a graceful driving experience with smooth handling and distinctive 1960s charm. This particular example, with its long-term ownership and careful maintenance, represents a remarkable opportunity to acquire a classic French convertible in fine running condition.
