The seller offers for sale a 1961 Peugeot 403 Commerciale, a beautifully restored estate car with a charming history. Originally owned by a Belgian carpenter, it was used for work before being stored in a barn in the 1980s. After years of rest, it was carefully restored by a later owner and registered as a historic vehicle in June 2023. Since the restoration, the car has been well maintained and driven about 3,500 km only in fair weather. The luggage rack and all five rims were metal coated, and the car was fitted with new tyres. The most recent technical inspection in August 2025 led to the replacement of the steering dust caps and silent blocks, followed by proper wheel alignment. The engine runs smoothly, starts easily, and shows no smoke or mechanical noise. The gearbox shifts well, and all lights and instruments work correctly. The paint presents minor scratches and decorative pinstripes on the rear that can easily be removed. The underbody shows only superficial rust without structural concern. The seats remain original and in fine shape, with minor wear around the door frames and roof lining.
The Peugeot 403 was launched in 1955 as a collaboration between Peugeot and famed designer Pininfarina. It quickly became known for its elegant lines, robust mechanics, and comfortable ride. The “Commerciale” estate version added practicality with generous cargo space, making it ideal for both professional and family use. Powered by Peugeot’s reliable 1.5-litre engine, it offered strong performance for its time and remarkable durability. Today, the 403 is admired for its timeless design and its role in establishing Peugeot’s reputation for quality and style. Restored examples like this one are rare and desirable, blending everyday usability with undeniable vintage charm.
