Description

Porsche 924S | 1989

  • 2.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine
  • One of the last 924 models, equipped with 944 drivetrain and suspension
  • Original “steingrau” Porsche paint with professionally redone front fender
  • Newly upholstered front seats in Porsche “piano pinstripe” fabric (2024)
  • Near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution thanks to transaxle layout

The seller offers for sale a 1989 Porsche 924S coupe, powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine and manual gearbox. This example was originally delivered in Germany on 30 June 1989 and later imported to the Netherlands in 1992. It combines the elegant body of the 924 with the drivetrain and suspension of the 944, including disc brakes and power steering, making it a unique blend of style and performance. The car remains largely in its original “steingrau” paint, with only the right fender professionally resprayed in 2024 due to stone chips. All wheels were refinished in their factory color the same year. The interior is in good condition, with signs of wear on the dashboard and steering wheel, while both front seats were reupholstered in 2024 with the correct Porsche “piano pinstripe” pattern. Instruments, electronics, and the electric targa roof are working properly, and the car received updated fuses in 2024. The engine starts easily, shows no smoke, makes no unusual noises, and the gearbox shifts smoothly. There is no accident history, and the car has only minimal rust at the rear window frame.

Introduced in the late 1970s, the Porsche 924 was designed as a more accessible entry point into the brand, offering Porsche engineering in a refined yet approachable package. The 924S, built in the late 1980s, was a special version that merged the slim and aerodynamic body of the 924 with the more powerful drivetrain of the 944. With its 2.5-liter engine producing around 160 hp and the advanced transaxle layout, the 924S provided excellent handling and balance. Its understated design made it a discreet sports car, often described as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Over the years, the 924S has gained recognition among collectors for its driving dynamics, engineering, and place in Porsche history. Today, it offers enthusiasts an attractive blend of affordability, performance, and classic Porsche character.
