Description

Pontiac De Luxe | 1928

  • 3.0L 6-cylinder petrol engine
  • Rare early Pontiac sedan with unique provenance
  • Engine rebuilt, upgraded to 12V system for easy starting
  • Original exterior paint with charming patina
  • Interior restored in pink velour in beautiful condition

The seller offers for sale this 1928 Pontiac De Luxe, a rare survivor from the early years of General Motors’ Pontiac brand. Produced in the USA and transported to Europe, this car remains in remarkable condition for its age. The 6-cylinder engine has been rebuilt and upgraded to a 12-volt system, ensuring reliable starts. A new wiring loom was installed, the fuel tank was treated internally, and new grease points were added throughout. The chassis underside has been cleaned and repainted with protective layers, and the wheels combine wood and steel with spokes made from strong American oak. The exterior retains its original paint, now showing a dignified patina, while the interior has been beautifully reupholstered in pink velour. Additional features include dual mirrors for safety, functioning lights, and valid inspection until 2028. Mechanically solid and ready for use, this nearly century-old Pontiac offers both originality and careful restoration work, making it an exceptional collector’s item.

The Pontiac De Luxe was introduced during the late 1920s, when Pontiac quickly gained popularity as General Motors’ affordable yet well-equipped brand. Positioned above Chevrolet, Pontiac offered six-cylinder power and stylish bodywork at accessible prices, appealing to a broad market. By 1928, Pontiac was already the best-selling six-cylinder car in America, setting the stage for decades of success. Surviving examples are rare today, especially outside the United States, and well-preserved models like this one are highly sought after by collectors. With its combination of originality, patina, and mechanical reliability, this 1928 Pontiac embodies the spirit of early American motoring heritage.
