The seller offers for sale this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro convertible restomod, originally constructed in the United States by a professional mechanic with the intention of track use. Upon the builder’s relocation to Europe, the car was sold and imported to Belgium in 2015, where it has since seen limited road use—primarily in classic car rallies in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, the engine was rebuilt with a dyno-tested output of 660 hp at 6,500 rpm. Invoices and dyno sheets are available.

The mechanical package of this Camaro has been upgraded. At its heart is an 8,849 cc V8 running Holley HP EFI (electronic injection) and MSD AL6 ignition. A Richmond Gear 6-speed manual transmission is paired with an aluminum flywheel and McLeod dual-disc clutch, featuring a hydraulic throwout bearing. Power is delivered via a 3.5” aluminum driveshaft with dual safety loops to a C4 Corvette-derived independent rear suspension with a limited-slip differential. Braking is provided by 14” vented discs with Wilwood calipers—6-piston in front and 4-piston in the rear—supported by a Hydratech hydraulic booster and AGR Performance rack and pinion steering.

The ride is adjustable via QA1 coilovers, and the car rides on 19″ CCW aluminum wheels, 9 inches wide at the front and 11 at the rear, shod in 255/35 and 305/30 tires respectively. Additional upgrades include a 22-gallon FuelSafe tank, BeCool aluminum radiator with dual 13” fans, and a fully custom 3.5” exhaust system with Spintech and MagnaFlow silencers—ceramic coated inside and out. A fiberglass 4” cowl hood and full custom roll cage (DOM tubing) round off the chassis and safety enhancements.

Visually, the car retains much of the original 1968 Camaro character, with a paint finish described as neat and kept in a heated garage. The interior is equipped with Recaro seats and 5-point harnesses, a Grant tilting steering column, and a custom dashboard fitted with Autometer gauges.

Though the car is not currently road-registered and lacks a valid technical inspection certificate, it remains in working mechanical condition. The seller states the vehicle will be returned to fully functioning order prior to sale.

The 1968 Camaro marks the second production year of Chevrolet’s iconic pony car. Known for its performance potential and lightweight styling, the first-generation Camaro became a staple of American muscle. This particular example, while visually faithful to the original, is a far cry from factory spec. The restomod culture emerged to blend classic looks with modern performance and engineering, and this build embodies that spirit. It goes well beyond aesthetic modification, incorporating racing-grade components across powertrain, chassis, suspension, and safety systems.

Restomod Camaros like this one offer a driving experience that classic originals cannot match—bringing contemporary handling, braking, and reliability while preserving the essential look and attitude of a 1960s muscle car. With its powerful drivetrain, rare IRS conversion, and extensive supporting hardware, this car is positioned for either serious performance driving or as a high-end showpiece with real capability under the hood.
