  • Matte mint green exterior with roof rack included
  • Partially restored interior and mechanicals

The seller offers for sale this 1951 Renault 4CV, a classic French sedan with unmistakable retro styling. Finished in a matte mint green exterior, this car is fitted with a 747cc four-cylinder petrol engine and a manual transmission.

The seller states that this car was imported to the Netherlands in 2008. A French technical manual and Dutch user instructions are included, along with some invoices and past registration documents.

The paint is provided with a matte mint green colour on the outside, which is not perfect
The interior has been partially restored. It is clean, but not fully finished. The original seats and rear bench are in place, though the carpeting, headliner, and door panels are currently missing. These areas will require completion. Some of the vehicle’s electronics are not yet connected, and the lights, indicators, and wipers are not operational. Additional parts are included in crates, such as heating components, screws, lighting units, emblems, and an extra fuel tank.

This Renault 4CV represents a rare opportunity to acquire an early post-war car that is largely complete and functional, with potential for further restoration or preservation. Originally developed under difficult conditions during World War II, the Renault 4CV was introduced in 1947 as the first French car to sell over a million units. Designed to be affordable and efficient, it featured a rear-mounted engine and a lightweight unibody design, appealing to the growing market for small, practical vehicles.

The 4CV helped relaunch the French auto industry in the post-war period and became a symbol of national recovery. Its compact size, rounded body, and friendly looks made it a common sight on European roads throughout the 1950s. It was also used in motorsports, with factory and private entries in events such as the Mille Miglia and Monte Carlo Rally. Renault even collaborated with Alpine on tuning kits and lightweight modifications, leading to a motorsport legacy that eventually culminated in the A110.

Today, the 4CV is appreciated by collectors for its historical importance, charming design, and mechanical simplicity. It is also one of the last Renault models to be produced with rear engine-rear wheel drive configuration. Surviving examples are increasingly rare, particularly those that are roadworthy and include spare parts. This car provides a good platform for a light restoration project, vintage touring build, or static display vehicle with just the right amount of patina.
