The seller offers for sale this 1998 Mercedes E55 AMG sedan, originally delivered to Japan and imported to Europe in 2016. Since its arrival, the car has been thoroughly maintained, with service history and invoices available. Most recently, at 89,325 km, it underwent a comprehensive service which included a gearbox oil and seal replacement, oil sump gasket, full oil and filter change, valve cover gaskets, driveshaft flange replacement, power steering system refresh, sunroof linkage replacement, battery renewal, brake fluid change (ATE), and new rear tyres. The chassis has been inspected and preserved with protective treatment, and the electrical system was tested.

Under the hood lies the revered 5.4-litre naturally aspirated M113 V8, delivering effortless power and refinement. Mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, this AMG-tuned sedan delivers both executive-level comfort and sports saloon performance, with a factory figure of 0-100 km/h in just over five seconds. Features include heated electric seats front and rear (with memory), cruise control, an electric rear sunblind, and a factory Bose sound system with a 6-disc CD changer.

Inside, the dark walnut-trimmed cabin includes newly upholstered suede headlining and restored leather seats.

This E55 AMG was featured in the Mercedes Enthusiast and Modern Classics magazines and exhibited at the 2018 ‘50 years of AMG’ celebration at Mercedes-Benz World. As such, it carries not only rarity but historical significance. The W210-generation E55 AMG was the first model fully developed by AMG post-DaimlerChrysler merger, introducing the world to a new generation of refined yet powerful sedans.

AMG (Aufrecht, Melcher, Großaspach), founded in the late 1960s, earned its reputation in motorsport before becoming synonymous with high-performance Mercedes models. The E55 AMG offered here belongs to the first full-AMG E-Class series. Its hand-built M113 V8 and restrained styling made it a wolf in sheep’s clothing — a format AMG has since perfected. Compared to its rivals at the time, such as the BMW M5 (E39), the E55 was more understated yet just as capable. Enthusiasts praise this generation for its reliability, linear power delivery, and long-distance comfort.

This model is becoming increasingly collectible as appreciation grows for 1990s analog performance cars. With low verified mileage, maintenance history, and rare exhibition pedigree, this Mercedes E55 AMG represents a compelling opportunity for collectors and drivers alike.
