The seller offers for sale this 1989 Ferrari 348 TB, presented as an early and well-preserved example of Ferrari’s transition into the modern supercar era. Powered by a 3.4-litre V8 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, the 348 TB produces 300 horsepower and remains fully naturally aspirated, offering a pure analog driving experience. The car’s transverse-mounted engine layout and wide stance borrow cues from Ferrari’s Formula 1 designs of the 1980s, while the signature straked side intakes reference the iconic Testarossa.
Finished in classic Ferrari red, the bodywork is reported to be in a beautiful condition. The paint has been recently polished to a high gloss, and while minor imperfections may be present, it remains well cared-for. The 348 features distinctive pop-up headlights, integrated aerodynamic mirrors, and sits on original factory alloy wheels with good-condition tyres. This particular car has reportedly spent much of its life as part of a private collection, stored dry and protected under cover.
The cabin, finished in black with matching seats and carpets, reflects minimal wear in line with the exceptionally low mileage of just over 12,000 km. The interior was recently cleaned by a specialist, and instruments, switches, and controls are intact and operational. Air conditioning is present and the layout retains the original Ferrari switchgear typical of the late 1980s.
Mechanically, the car is described as good. While it was recently reawakened from long-term storage and driven for a short test in early 2025, the seller notes that the vehicle will require a service before being driven regularly.
The 348 TB (Transversale Berlinetta) marked an important step for Ferrari, replacing the 328 GTB in 1989. It introduced a more modern design penned by Pininfarina, with sharper lines and a wedge profile that carried through much of Ferrari’s 1990s lineup. The 348 was the first Ferrari to use a longitudinally-mounted engine mated to a transverse gearbox – a layout inspired by the 288 GTO – enhancing weight distribution and handling balance.
In its time, the 348 offered improved aerodynamics, a stiffer chassis, and more aggressive performance than its predecessor, though it retained analog characteristics, such as manual steering and a gated shifter, that continue to appeal to purists today. It wasn’t without critique in its day, but with time, the 348 has gained appreciation for its raw feedback, sharp styling, and role in bridging the gap between classic and modern Ferrari eras.
While later models such as the 355 overshadowed it in refinement, the 348 TB is increasingly valued for its purity, low production numbers, and 1980s design language. Its appeal lies in its blend of performance and tradition, making it a desirable collectible among Ferrari enthusiasts.
