The private seller offers for sale this 1953 Volvo PV444, powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. The Volvo PV444 was introduced in 1944 and put into full production after the war, and it became the car that established Volvo as an international brand. Its compact, rounded fastback body, in the style of American cars of the period, was combined with a sturdy monocoque construction and a robust four-cylinder engine. Over more than a decade, the PV444 gained a reputation for durability, performance in rallying and the sort of dependability that Volvo would later become famous for.

According to the seller, this PV444 starts and drives without trouble. It was first registered in 1953, and the seller notes that, as with most vehicles of this age, there are some oil leaks. The seller states that the carburettor was overhauled in Sweden in December 2025, and that the cylinder head was removed, degreased, decarbonised and reconditioned at the same time, including regrinding of the eight valve seats and eight valves, resurfacing of the cylinder head face, refitting of the valves and springs, and work on the manifold surface. Numerous engine parts have been replaced or overhauled. The seller states that the interior upholstery needs to be redone.

The car is finished in a deep dark green with chrome bumpers, a chrome grille and a period dashboard with a large central speedometer. It offers a chance to acquire an early example of a model that is immensely popular in classic circles, ready to be enjoyed or to continue a restoration at the buyer’s own pace.
