The private seller offers for sale this 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300 GD, powered by the legendary 3.0-litre five-cylinder OM617 diesel engine, paired with a manual transmission. This short-wheelbase station wagon is finished in the factory colour Agave Green (MB 6880) and was specified with the upgraded interior package (option V22) in brown, which brings brown leather seats. Further factory options listed on the data card include differential locks for the front and rear axles, a heated rear window with rear wiper, heat-insulating glass, a front towing coupling, the external spare wheel carrier on the rear door and padded dashboard grab handles. The car is also fitted with power steering, a wooden Puch steering wheel and a front grille guard. The odometer shows 30,800 km.
This G was delivered new in Austria on 10 November 1981 through Steyr-Daimler-Puch and first registered on 15 January 1982. Until 2000, all G-Class vehicles sold in Austria were marketed under the Puch brand, which explains the Puch emblems on this car. According to the documents, the car is in its third ownership. It remained registered and in use in Austria until December 2024 and was imported in spring 2025, after which it was refurbished and repaired. It has recently passed its roadworthiness inspection and the H-classification approval for historic vehicles, both valid until July 2029. According to the seller, the chassis number marks it as one of the very first examples to leave the Graz production line. A separate set of alloy wheels, registered in the vehicle documents, is included in the sale.
The G-Class was developed as a joint project between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch, with development starting in 1972 and series production beginning in 1979 in Graz, Austria, where the model is still built today. The original W460 series was conceived as an uncompromising off-roader, with a robust ladder frame, rigid axles and a selectable four-wheel-drive system with lockable differentials. The 300 GD, with its famously durable five-cylinder diesel, was the flagship diesel of the early range and earned a reputation for reliability in the toughest conditions across the world.
