The seller offers for sale this 1968 Ford Mustang Hardtop C-Code, powered by a 5.0-litre 302 V8 engine, paired with an automatic transmission. The car left the factory as a C-code V8 Mustang and is today fitted with a 302 cubic inch roller block V8, complemented by Edelbrock components and a dual exhaust system. It is finished in Royal Maroon, the colour in which it was originally delivered, and the matching red interior with its bucket seats, woodgrain-effect dashboard and period steering wheel creates a warm and cohesive colour combination.

The body is largely original and the paintwork shows light signs of use that suit the age and character of the car. Before arriving in Europe the Mustang spent its life in the United States, and a copy of the US title comes with the car together with earlier documentation, including information on technical work carried out while it was in America. The last owner kept the car for almost ten years and used it for leisurely weekend drives. The Cragar wheels give the car a purposeful period hot rod stance.

The 1968 model year marked the final season of the original Mustang body, which had been widened and restyled for 1967 to make room for bigger engines. For 1968 Ford added side marker lights, a revised grille with the free-floating running horse emblem and, significantly, introduced the 302 V8 as a new engine option, the same displacement that powers this car today. The hardtop coupé was by far the most popular Mustang body style, and it is the one that most people picture when they think of the classic pony car. It was also the year the Mustang achieved lasting screen fame in the film Bullitt.

With its long bonnet, short rear deck, sculpted side scoops and triple-lens taillights, the 1968 Mustang remains one of the most recognisable shapes of the sixties. The 302 V8 delivers smooth, torquey performance and the unmistakable deep V8 sound, while the automatic transmission makes for relaxed cruising. This is an attractive and characterful V8 Mustang for the enthusiast who wants to enjoy it on the road.
