Over a ten-year production run the model was offered with a wide range of four, five and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, culminating in 1993 with a special send-off for the outgoing model: two Limited Edition versions, the 190 E 2.3 and the 190 E 2.6, each built in a run of just 700 cars. The 2.3 Limited Edition took the comfort-oriented route, finished exclusively in Brilliant Emerald over beige leather with burl walnut trim, while its 2.6-litre Sportline counterpart focused on a sportier character.
