The seller offers for sale this 1977 Excalibur Phaeton Series III, powered by a 7.5-litre V8 engine, paired with an automatic transmission. This example is finished in light blue with medium blue fenders, a beige leather cabin, and a matching beige top, and it has covered only a handful of short trips since arriving in Denmark. The car has been in the current family’s hands since it was acquired from Camelot Classic Cars in 2007, at which point the brakes were replaced, and the hood and doors have since also been renewed. There is a small scratch on the left rear fender, some heat peeling on the hood, and a small crack in the driver’s seat; the left rear fender and front flap could use fresh paint. The car has always been kept in a garage and is offered with two known previous owners.

The Excalibur was the creation of American industrial designer Brooks Stevens, whose neo-classic vision combined the flowing fenders, exposed side exhausts and upright grille of 1930s coachbuilt automobiles with contemporary American mechanicals underneath. First shown in 1964, the Excalibur quickly attracted a celebrity following and became one of the best-known names of the neo-classic movement. The Series III, introduced for the 1975 model year, carried this formula forward on a new ladder-type chassis, and the four-seat Phaeton body offered here consistently outsold the two-seat Roadster throughout the model’s run.

Power comes from a Chevrolet-sourced 454 cubic inch big-block V8, paired with an automatic transmission, giving this substantial cabriolet effortless cruising ability. The detachable hardtop and folding soft top add flexibility for open-air motoring, while wire wheels, whitewall tyres and the trademark exposed exhaust pipes complete the head-turning period silhouette. For collectors seeking a distinctive, usable American classic with genuine presence, this Phaeton Series III is a striking choice.
