The seller offers for sale this 1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I, powered by a 6.75-litre V8 engine, paired with an automatic transmission. This Silver Shadow I presents in a metallic exterior colour over a tan leather interior, complemented by the wood veneer dashboard and door cappings typical of Rolls-Royce saloons of the period. The bodywork is described by the seller as being in generally good condition, and the tan leather upholstery has been maintained. Since being returned to the road following its purchase in 2018, the car has received a number of mechanical works, including an engine replacement, a complete renewal of the electrical wiring harness, a new steering box, a new rear hub, a new handbrake, and a new master cylinder with brake pads; the battery, an Optima 50Ah unit, is still under warranty. The seller notes one outstanding fault, affecting the power supply to the front right electric window.

Introduced in 1965, the Silver Shadow marked a significant shift for Rolls-Royce, replacing the traditional separate chassis of earlier models with a unitary monocoque body and adopting all-round independent suspension with self-levelling. It was produced until 1976 in its original Silver Shadow I form, before evolving into the updated Silver Shadow II. Alongside its Bentley T-Series equivalent, the Silver Shadow became one of the most-produced Rolls-Royce models of the era, admired for combining a more compact, modern body with the marque’s traditional standards of refinement.

Power comes from Rolls-Royce’s 6.75-litre V8, fed by twin SU carburettors, driving the rear wheels through an automatic transmission. True to the marque’s philosophy, official power output was never disclosed by the factory, described only as “adequate”. The self-levelling suspension, a hydraulic braking system developed with Citroën technology, and a cabin trimmed in leather and wood veneer combine to give the Silver Shadow the smooth, hushed character for which Rolls-Royce saloons of this generation remain celebrated.
