The seller offers for sale this 1993 Wiesmann MF35, powered by a 3.5-litre straight-six engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in the original factory Silver-Grey with a black and anthracite leather interior, this cabriolet is one of only seven MF35 examples built worldwide across 1993 and 1994, the first three of which served as management and test cars, making this effectively among the earliest examples offered to the open market. The car comes from its fourth owner and has been well maintained throughout its life; the odometer shows 183,342 km, a figure the seller notes should not be taken as a reflection of the car’s overall condition.

From a cosmetic point of view the car has received fresh paintwork, and the engine has undergone a rebuild, along with the fitment of an aluminium radiator with electric cooling fans. The car rides on its original 18-inch Wiesmann alloy wheels and is equipped with power steering and electric windows. The bonded aluminium and hand-formed body panels sit over a tubular steel chassis, a construction method distinctive to the marque, and the car retains its wood-rimmed steering wheel and full instrument binnacle.

Wiesmann was founded in 1988 by brothers Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann, who set out to build handcrafted sports cars combining classically inspired styling with contemporary underpinnings. The company’s gecko logo reflects its ambition to build cars that stay glued to the road, much like the gecko clings to a wall. Between 1993 and 1994, the first eleven examples of the marque’s roadster were produced, comprising four cars fitted with a 2.5-litre engine, badged MF25, and seven fitted with the larger 3.5-litre engine, badged MF35, as offered here. Wiesmann would go on to build a series of increasingly ambitious models over the following two decades, including the later MF3, MF4 and MF5 generations, before the company’s insolvency in 2013; in total, fewer than 1,600 examples of the marque were ever built, making any Wiesmann a genuinely rare sight.

Under the bonnet, the MF35 uses a BMW-sourced straight-six engine, chosen for its smoothness and eager response, driving through a 5-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. The combination of a lightweight aluminium body, front-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout and classic proportions gives the car a distinctive character behind the wheel, while the low production numbers and early build position within the MF35 series make this a particularly interesting example for collectors of the marque.
