The seller offers for sale this 1973 Mini 1000 De Luxe, powered by a 998 cc four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. Finished in red with a contrasting white roof, this example is a Spanish-built Authi Mini that has been the subject of a comprehensive restoration carried out over several years by a professional automotive mechanic and electrician, with particular attention paid to quality, reliability and the preservation of the model’s character. For the restoration the car was completely dismantled and subsequently rebuilt piece by piece, with the various components reviewed and reconditioned before assembly. The work covered the bodywork, the underside, the mechanicals, the electrical installation and the interior.

The car retains its original engine, which was reviewed during the restoration process, and according to the seller the car currently functions correctly and is ready to be driven. The bodywork was restored and thoroughly treated and, according to the seller, the body shows no significant rust; the underside was also specifically treated and reinforced for improved protection. One of the most substantial jobs was the complete renewal of the electrical installation: the original configuration was replaced with an updated system featuring a modern fuse box and individual protection for the various circuits, improving safety, reliability and ease of maintenance. The interior was completely retrimmed, with new carpet and sound insulation, and features a varnished wooden dashboard with additional instrumentation for oil pressure, temperature and engine revolutions. Further discreet upgrades include H7 headlights, front seat belts, central locking, a four-tone alarm, an interior bonnet release, aluminium sport pedals and a Bluetooth audio system with hidden speakers and an amplifier, all integrated with care to maintain the classic appearance of the car. The Mini comes with its documentation in order, a valid Spanish ITV inspection and is free of encumbrances.

Few cars can claim the cultural significance of the Mini. Launched in 1959 and designed by Alec Issigonis, its ingenious transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive layout maximised interior space within a tiny footprint and set the template for virtually every small car that followed. In Spain, the Mini was built under licence by Authi (Automóviles de Turismo Hispano-Ingleses) in Pamplona from the late 1960s, and these Spanish-built cars have since developed a dedicated following of their own. The 1000 De Luxe combined the willing 998 cc A-series engine with a better-appointed interior, making it one of the most usable and charming versions of the breed.

What continues to endear the Mini to enthusiasts is the way it drives. With its wheel-at-each-corner stance, quick steering and famous go-kart-like handling, it delivers an engagement that belies its modest power output. This carefully restored and thoughtfully upgraded example offers classic Mini motoring with improved everyday reliability, making it an appealing proposition for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
