The seller offers for sale this 1983 Porsche 924, powered by a 1,998 cc four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. The car was delivered new in the Netherlands and has had three owners, the second of whom kept it from 1994 until 2026, a period of 32 years. It shows 63,275 km, and an NAP report is present to support the reading. The specification includes the removable roof panel, electric mirrors, a tow bar and the original chequered Porsche upholstery, the pattern that more than anything else places the interior in its period. The seller notes that the driver’s seat requires repair.

The car was stored indoors throughout, and the previous owner started it regularly to keep things moving. Following his death it was recovered from the garage, and the seller reports that it started on collection, that the brakes are free and that the functions operate. The car has no current periodic inspection and, in the seller’s words, deserves servicing before returning to full road use. A test drive can be arranged on the private grounds where it is currently kept. The seller had intended to carry out a comprehensive mechanical overhaul and has already purchased the parts for it, ordered to original Porsche part numbers, covering the timing components, rubbers, fluids, brake components all round, driveshafts, ball joints, bearings and shock absorbers among others. These parts can be taken over at cost price with the car, which would give a new owner everything needed to start work immediately. An overview of the parts is included in the photographs.

The 924 occupies an important place in Porsche history as the car that opened the front-engined, water-cooled chapter. It began life as a Volkswagen project, developed by Porsche under contract as a sporting coupé to sit above the Scirocco, and when Volkswagen withdrew, Porsche bought the design back and put it into production under its own name in 1976. The layout was unusual for the marque and thoroughly sound: engine at the front, transaxle at the rear connected by a rigid torque tube, giving near-perfect weight distribution and handling that critics of the day rated among the best of any car at the price. Built at the former NSU plant in Neckarsulm, the 924 became Porsche’s best-selling model of its era, with around 150,000 examples produced, and it kept the company solvent through a difficult decade.

The Le Mans connection is worth noting too. The 924 Carrera GT and its GTP sibling took Porsche to Le Mans at the start of the 1980s, and the model line went on to spawn the 944 and ultimately the 968. The 2.0-litre engine in this car is the later Audi-derived unit with Bosch injection, a robust and willing four that suits the chassis rather than overwhelming it, and the manual gearbox and light kerb weight give the 924 the balanced, communicative feel that has quietly built its reputation among people who actually drive them. Long undervalued in the shadow of the 911, original early cars have begun a
