– Rumble seat
– Semi-electric soft top
– 5.0-litre V8 engine with automatic transmission

The Excalibur is one of the most distinctive and striking neoclassical automobiles produced during the twentieth century. Founded by designer Brooks Stevens in 1964, the Excalibur Automobile Corporation built exclusive, handcrafted roadsters inspired by the legendary Mercedes-Benz SSK of the 1930s. Each car was built by hand in limited numbers, making every example a genuine collector’s item.

The Series IV, produced from 1975 to 1979, with production continuing into the early 1980s, represented the ultimate expression of the Excalibur concept: timeless pre-war styling combined with modern American technology. Beneath the long bonnet of this Roadster lies a 5.0-litre V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission, delivering generous performance and a deep, sonorous exhaust note that perfectly suits its dramatic appearance.

Only 159 Roadsters were built during the entire Series IV production run, making this example one of the rarest versions. Its rumble seat and semi-electrically operated soft top make it an ideal summer touring car that is guaranteed to attract attention at any event.

The exterior of this 1981 Excalibur Roadster is finished in beige/light yellow paintwork, beautifully highlighting the flowing, sculpted lines of its bodywork. The long bonnet with its distinctive side-exit exhaust pipes, rounded wings, externally mounted spare wheels on the rear wings and gleaming chrome bumpers, mirrors and horn assemblies give the car its unmistakable pre-war grandeur. Wire wheels with whitewall tyres complete the appearance of this rolling work of art.

Inside, the warm brown leather interior sets the tone. The ribbed seats, brown carpeting and wooden interior panels with engraved details create an atmosphere of handcrafted luxury. The steering wheel with Excalibur emblem, classically arranged instruments and centre console with automatic gear selector further reinforce the feeling that you are taking your place in something truly special. The combination of the soft yellow-beige exterior and rich brown leather gives this Roadster a timeless elegance.
