The seller offers for sale this 1962 Ford FK 1250 Taunus Transit, powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. This is an original eight-seat Fensterbus, the factory window-bus version, rather than a later conversion of a panel van, which makes it a genuinely rare survivor. It presents today in an attractive two-tone colour scheme of turquoise and cream, with a period-style interior and reupholstered bench seats. According to the documentation supplied with the vehicle, the bus was largely rebuilt between 2016 and 2019, during which it was extensively dismantled, the bodywork was refurbished and resprayed, and the interior and numerous technical components were overhauled. A range of records, receipts and parts lists from that work accompanies the vehicle, along with original Ford parts catalogues.

The Ford FK series, sold as the Taunus Transit, was built by Ford in Cologne and was the German forerunner of the later Transit. Produced from the mid 1950s, it used a forward-control layout that placed the driver above the front axle and made the most of the available body length for passengers or cargo. Offered as a panel van, pickup and window bus, it became a familiar sight on German roads during the post-war years, and surviving examples in original window-bus form are now sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of classic commercial vehicles.

During the current ownership the bus received further mechanical attention. The carburettor was professionally overhauled, a new exhaust was fitted and an oil filter was added to improve servicing. As certain gearbox and linkage parts are practically unavailable today, the gearbox mounting rubber and the shift linkage bushings were specially remade and fitted. The earlier conversion of the electrical system from 6 volt to 12 volt improves everyday usability. The vehicle carries a German historic registration (H-Kennzeichen) and holds a valid main inspection (TÜV) until August 2027. With its rarity, documented restoration and characterful styling, this Taunus Transit window bus would suit collectors, classic vehicle enthusiasts or anyone seeking an unusual promotional or leisure vehicle.
