The seller offers for sale this 1964 Ford Mustang Cabriolet, powered by a 4.3-litre V8 (260 cubic inch, F-Code) engine, paired with an automatic transmission. The Mustang is finished in Wimbledon White with a white cabriolet hood and a blue leather interior. The bodywork shows good panel alignment and displays the clean, straight lines characteristic of the early Mustang design. As is to be expected on a classic of this age, minor imperfections in the paintwork are present in places. The car is fitted with power steering, an electric power top, and rides on styled steel hubcaps. It comes accompanied by two binders documenting maintenance and repair work carried out over the years, making it a well-documented example of the model.
The Ford Mustang was introduced to the public on 17 April 1964 at the New York World’s Fair, where it caused an immediate sensation. The so-called 1964½ models were the very first Mustangs off the production line, produced between April and August 1964 before the official 1965 model year began. Built on a Falcon-derived platform, they were offered in hardtop, fastback, and cabriolet body styles. The entry-level V8 option was the 260 cubic inch (4.3-litre) engine, designated F-Code, which gave early buyers genuine V8 performance at an accessible price point. The combination of sporty styling, open-air motoring, and American V8 character made the early cabriolet one of the most desirable variants from this founding generation.
The interior is trimmed in blue, with front bucket seats, matching door panels, and a blue carpet. The two-spoke steering wheel carries the original Ford Mustang emblem at its centre. The dashboard retains its period-correct layout with the original gauges and radio.
