The Jaguar S-Type was introduced in 1999 as a mid-size executive saloon, reviving a nameplate last used in the 1960s. The design drew inspiration from the classic 1963 S-Type, with rounded, retro-influenced bodywork that set it apart from its more angular German rivals. Built on a platform shared with the Ford Lincoln LS, the S-Type was offered with a range of V6 and V8 engines and positioned as a sporting alternative within the Jaguar lineup. The 3.0-litre AJ-V6 engine, producing around 238 bhp, gave the car capable performance combined with the refined character expected of the marque.
